What this policy is
The terms govern the commercial relationship. This page covers conduct: the uses that can end an account, whether or not the bill is paid. It is part of the terms.
Understudio is a tool. How you use it is your decision and your responsibility, and these rules are the minimum — the law where you are, and the rules of the people you work with, come first.
Recording other people
The app captures your microphone and everything your Mac plays, which on a call includes the other people's voices. Laws on recording and transcribing conversations differ by country and by state. Some, including California, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Washington, require the consent of everyone in the conversation. In the EU, another person's voice is their personal data.
- Do not record or transcribe anyone where the law does not allow it without their consent, unless you have it.
- When in doubt, tell the people on the call and ask.
- Do not keep, publish or share another person's words or image in a way the law does not allow.
The rules of the interview
Whether help of any kind is allowed in an interview, assessment or exam is decided by whoever runs it. Check before you join.
- Do not use the service where those rules, an employer's policy, or a platform's terms forbid it.
- Do not use it to pretend to be someone else, or to let someone else take an interview or test in your name.
- Do not use it in an exam or certification taken for a qualification, unless the people running it allow it.
Nothing on this site gives you permission that the organisation running your interview has not given you.
You may not also
- Use the service to break the law where you are.
- Share, resell or rent an account, or pool one allowance across several people.
- Automate the app to generate answers without a person driving the session.
- Attempt to extract the prompts or model configuration, or use the service to build a competing product.
- Upload or capture content you have no right to use, such as confidential material you were not allowed to share.
- Probe, scan or attack the service's infrastructure, or attempt to reach another account's data.
Reporting abuse
Write to support@understudio.app with enough detail to identify the account or behaviour. Reports are read by a person.
Security disclosure
Report vulnerabilities to security@understudio.app rather than publicly, and give us a reasonable window to fix the issue before disclosing. We will not pursue legal action over good-faith research that stays within the boundaries above, does not access other people's data, and does not degrade the service for anyone else.
We acknowledge a report within 3 business days, tell you what we will do within 14 days, and aim to fix a confirmed issue within 90 days. Please wait until it is fixed, or 90 days have passed, before you publish.
Enforcement
A first breach usually means a warning and a chance to correct it. A serious or repeated breach ends the account. Using the service to record people unlawfully counts as serious. We say which rule was broken. Tokens on a closed account are handled as the terms describe.
