Before you pick one

What does a token buy?: A standard solve is about 1 token, a frontier-model solve 2–4, and an hour of live transcription about 12. The weights follow what each one costs to run, which is why a frontier-model answer costs more. Frontier models are on Max.
Does transcription cost tokens?: Yes. Live transcription spends about 12 tokens an hour while it runs, from the same plan and pack tokens as your solves.
What happens when a plan runs out mid-interview?: Pack tokens take over. Plan tokens are spent first and pack tokens after them, so the app keeps working for as long as there are pack tokens on the account. With none of either left, there are no solves and no live transcription until the plan resets or you add a pack.
Do I need a plan to install it?: No. Installing is free, but nothing runs without a plan or tokens — solves and live transcription both spend tokens, and a new account starts with 0. Tokens do not need a plan: the smallest pack is 250 tokens for $9.
Can I pay annually?: Yes, and it is the cheaper way to hold a plan: Pro is $20 a month billed annually instead of $25, and Max is $50 instead of $65.
Where do I pay?: In your account, never on this site — there is no payment form anywhere on understudio.app.
Can I cancel or switch?: Any time, from Billing & usage. A cancelled plan runs to the end of the period you paid for and is not charged again. An upgrade takes effect at once and you pay the difference straight away; a downgrade waits for the next renewal. Pack tokens stay yours either way.
Can I get a refund?: If you are a consumer in the EU, you can withdraw from a purchase within 14 days and get your money back, less the tokens you already spent. Otherwise a started plan period and spent tokens are not refunded, and a charge made in error always is. The full rules are in the terms.

Session history is capped at the 50 most recent rounds on every plan, and screenshots are kept as thumbnails. That is a property of the app, not of the plan you hold — no tier raises it.
